625 Park Avenue, Apt 1A-D, New York, NY
With a price tag of almost 16 million, this unit in New York’s historic 625 Park Avenue co-op is unabashedly one of the most luxurious homes we’ve featured, and the trendy, opulent decorating does a great deal to convey that sense of luxury. Designer Trisha Reger has taken favorite contemporary interior looks and deployed them to particularly stunning effect in this expansive nine-room dwelling.
In this case, the modern styling is particularly accentuated by features that suggest a classical touch. Combining old and new is not a new approach, but the effect is striking here. Take, for example, the parquet flooring (beautifully paired here with an ornate gilded accent table), the coffered ceilings, and the wide, intricate millwork. These traditional touches keep the look grounded with a reminder of heritage and class, especially in juxtaposition with fresh, neutral shades, modern lighting, and clean lines.
This same effect gives this bright, glittering bathroom its charm: a fashionable, eye-catching mirrored vanity hovers over vintage-style basketweave floor tiles. Oversized subway tiles in the shower reference the past, but with an updated twist.
We’re intrigued by the padded wall coverings in the main bedroom and adjacent sitting room.
They do a wonderful job of hiding an immense amount of storage space and contribute to a luxurious, cozy, and restful atmosphere.
The kitchen is outfitted with the best from all the top brands: Miele, Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Gaggenau, all housed or integrated in custom cabinetry and glossy glass countertops.
Step outside to enjoy a secluded garden terrace roomy enough for dining and relaxing, as well as proximity to Central Park and Park Avenue’s shopping and dining experiences.
